Adventure Time (originally titled Adventure Time with Finn & Jake) is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network. The series follows the adventures of Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada), a human boy, and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake (voiced by John DiMaggio), a dog with magical powers to change shape and grow and shrink at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo. Along the way, they interact with the other main characters of the show: Princess Bubblegum (voiced by Hynden Walch), The Ice King (voiced by Tom Kenny), and Marceline the Vampire Queen (voiced by Olivia Olson).

The series is based on a short produced for Nicktoons and Frederator Studios' animation incubator series Random! Cartoons. After the short became a viral hit on the Internet, Cartoon Network picked it up for a full-length series that previewed on March 11, 2010, and officially premiered on April 5, 2010. The series, which is heavily inspired by the fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons as well as video games, is produced via hand-drawn animation. Episodes are created through the process of storyboarding, and a single episode takes roughly eight to nine months to complete, although whole episodes are worked on at the same time. The Adventure Time cast records their lines together in group recordings as opposed to different recording sessions with each voice actor, and the series also regularly employs guest actors and actresses for minor and recurring characters.

Each Adventure Time episode is about eleven minutes in length; pairs of episodes are often telecast in order to fill a half-hour program time slot. The series has completed five seasons, and the sixth season is set to premiere on April 21, 2014. It has aired 156 episodes. Ever since its debut, Adventure Time has been a ratings success for Cartoon Network. As of March 2013, the show is viewed by approximately 2 to 3 million viewers per week. The show has received positive reviews from critics and has developed a strong following among teenagers and adults, many of whom are attracted due to the series' animation, stories and characters. Adventure Time has also been nominated for twelve Annie Awards with two wins, five Primetime Emmy Awards with one win, two Critics' Choice Television Awards, and a Sundance Film Festival Award, among others. In 2013, the series won a Motion Picture Sound Editors Award, an aforementioned Emmy, and a British Academy Children's Award. Its comic book spin-off won an Eisner Award and two Harvey Awards. In addition, the series has also produced various clothing and merchandise, video games, comic books, and DVD compilations.

Adventure Time, (Hora de Aventura en Hispanoamérica y Hora de Aventuras en España) originalmente llamada Adventure Time with Finn and Jake es una serie animada de televisión creada por Pendleton Ward y Mike Holmes, protagonizada por dos mejores amigos (y hermanos adoptivos): Finn, un niño al que le encantan las aventuras, y Jake, un perro con poderes mágicos que habitan en la "Tierra de OOO". En septiembre de 2008, el corto creado para presentarse en Cartoon Network fue oficialmente aprobado para convertirse en una serie en el mismo canal. La mitad de un episodio, también llamado "sneak peek" (adelanto) se emitió el 11 y 18 de marzo del 2010, y la serie se estrenó oficialmente el 5 de abril de 2010. La estructura de los episodios emitidos se compone de dos capítulos de once minutos aproximadamente que son dispuestos en un bloque de treinta minutos. En España es emitido a través de la cadena Boing. La serie es emitida varias veces al día, concretamente a primera hora de la mañana, al mediodía y por la noche. Este horario se debe a que es el momento en el que los niños están en casa y puedan seguir la serie.

Desde su emisión, Adventure Time se ha ido convirtiendo en una serie de culto en Internet, siendo ampliamente conocida por su creativo estilo de animación y argumento sencillo y directo pero que engloba un macrotexto complejo que evoluciona y se diversifica a medida que avanza el tiempo, ambos basados en la extravagancia, surrealismo y el absurdo continuos.

Además la cadena de programas televisivos Cartoon Network ha sacado al mercado diferentes productos alusivos a Adventure Time, como gorros de Finn, espadas, muñecos, etc.
